Joan contacted us early on and made us feel like we already knew her. She met us at our hotel and shepherded us through a wonderful visit to the north Bronx, an area that was totally new to us. Our most memorable moment was the view of the George Washington bridge from the lovely Wave Hill.

I had a lovely day and learnt so much which meant that I was much more confident exploring the following day on my own. I wouldn’t have spent much time walking in Brooklyn so I’m really glad that we spent a lot of time there as it was one of my favourite places.

The Bronx? Really? Are you kidding? We never had any idea how hilly the Bronx is. We want to know more of this incredible city and other boroughs - and the Bronx also belongs to it. So ... why not?
